Moon Lander presents an intriguing challenge that invites players to navigate the complexities of lunar landings. In this meticulously designed game, players must carefully pilot a lunar module onto designated landing pads on the moon's rugged surface.

While the concept may seem straightforward, landing on the moon proves to be quite demanding. The game's physics emphasize the fragility of the lunar module, which is notably sensitive to impacts. Players must exercise caution when maneuvering, as one miscalculated move could result in catastrophic failure.

The controls are intuitively designed; players tilt left or right to activate side thrusters and tilt back for main thrust. This simplicity in control allows players to focus on the strategic aspects of landing amidst varying difficulties.

There are three levels of difficulty available. On the easy setting, players enjoy increased fuel reserves and a more resilient lander, providing a gentler introduction to the mechanics. Conversely, the difficult mode challenges pilots with limited fuel and a highly fragile craft, rewarding successful landings with a significant score increase.

The game features multiple landing pads displayed across a scrolling screen. While green pads offer the easiest landing conditions, orange and red pads present greater risks and rewards. A successful landing on a red pad will yield the highest score, but players must approach with caution to avoid disaster. Landing anywhere other than a designated pad will result in the lander sinking into the moon's surface and ultimately exploding.

Scoring is straightforward:

 <li>+4000: Safe landing with potential for liftoff.</li>
 <li>+5000: Qualified pilot recognition.</li>

 <li>10,000+: Space Shuttle Commander status—an expert pilot!</li>
</ul>

Certain actions can lead to a crash:
<ul>
 <li>Failing to land on a designated pad.</li>
 <li>Landing at excessive speed.</li>
 <li>Sustaining too much damage from moon rocks.</li>
 <li>Landing at an improper angle—severe tilts are not survivable.</li>
</ul>
